Historical society hosts its 90th annual fundraiser dinner

The Crow Wing County Historical Society will host its 90th annual dinner/fundraiser/meeting April 25 at the Brainerd American Legion.

There will also be a silent auction and raffles.The meeting will start with social hour at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Dinner will be a choice of prime rib or walleye. The event includes a presentation by Julie Jo Larson titled "Family Cemeteries: Hidden Historic Treasures."

Larson is a freelance writer and researcher about the Brainerd lakes area and northern Minnesota. She formed The MsStorians, a women's history group that tours old cemeteries, historic buildings and forgotten places. Their adventures are regularly published in the Lake Country Journal.

Larson's work has appeared in Central Lakes College's West Bank Journal, The Crossing Arts Alliance Dimensions of Motherhood juried show and the TRIO newsletter. She is a TRIO student support services adviser at Central Lakes College and a licensed social worker.

Contact the museum at 218-829-3268 to reserve a ticket. Tickets are $25 per person. Payment and RSVPs must be in by April 14.
