Crews have been busy this week reinforcing Brainerd's hydro dam on the Mississippi River at the former Potlatch site in northeast Brainerd.
The project, according to Scott Magnuson, Brainerd Public Utilities superintendent, entails an 11-inch concrete overlay over the entire apron, a new training wall between the two large bascule gates and the tainter (westernmost) gate, and a concrete overlay over the existing tainter gate spillway.
"What is done so far is the training wall and the overlay over the tainter gate spillway (again, westernmost area) also done is the downstream portion of the overlay on the east side of the main apron, that (is) ... closest to the power house," Magnuson said in an email.
Magnuson said substantial completion of the project is expected by early November.
