The Brainerd Public Library will present "An Immigrant's Trunk" by the American Swedish
Institute (ASI) at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The past comes to life as Scott Pollock, director of exhibitions, collections and programs, discusses historic items typical Swedish immigrants would have brought with them on their journey to the New World. Participants will get to handle the vintage items and will imagine walking in the shoes of Swedish immigrants with a program that's part show-and-tell, part Antiques Roadshow and part a walk down memory lane.
The ASI is a vibrant arts and cultural organization that engages locally and connects globally. It is a gathering place for all people to share experiences around themes of culture, migration, the environment and the arts, informed by enduring links to Sweden.
From the Turnblad Mansion and Nelson Cultural Center, ASI seeks to be a community asset and partner and is located in Minneapolis.
