Police are seeking information after a passerby found a car key and other items on a park bench near the Mississippi River in Brainerd.
In a news release, the Brainerd Police Department reported a sweatshirt, towel, moccasins, eyeglasses, cigarettes and a Pontiac car key were located on the bench along a trail near Rotary Park. The passerby found the items shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 5.
The items appeared to be purposely left there, according to police, and the style and size of the items found led police to believe the owner is likely a female. Police believe the items were left there sometime in the 24-hour period prior to being found.
The sweatshirt is gray with "The Lodge at Brainerd Lakes" in green lettering on the front, and the cigarettes are Marlboro Black 100s. The moccasins are brown, and the towel is off-white with a purple and green stripes.
Police asked the public to report if they notice a Pontiac vehicle parked somewhere that seems out of place within the past 24 hours that has not moved. The key is a single key with a Pontiac logo with remote door unlock and vehicle start.
