Under the watchful eye of District Court Judge Earl E. Maus, Lowell School third-grader Markus Rustad reads the inscription Wednesday on the gavel in courtroom at the Crow Wing County Judicial Center. Rustad acted as the judge in a mock trial scripted for the third-graders pitting Cinderella against her wicked stepmother in a civil suit. The students filled all the stations in the courtroom and conducted the proceeding. After hearing all the testimony, the jury decided for the plaintiff, who was Cinderella.
