The Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association and Vacationland Figure Skating Club emphasize the importance of building youth skills and friendships both off and on the ice. They have announced they are enhancing their programs this year with an opportunity for the young people to give back to the community through a Kids in the Community day.
The organizations are looking for projects in which youth participants (ages 6-18), coaches and families can dedicate 2-5 hours on Oct. 19 to improve the community through a service project specifically meant to gain a greater understanding of what it is like to be handicapped and improve the services or experiences a handicapped person has in our community.
Project ideas include building a ramp or cleaning an area or facility used by handicapped people. To be a Kids in the Community project site please provide the following via email to rjoyce
