MINNEAPOLIS-U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Monday congratulated Alycia Goode of Baxter for her acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point for the fall of 2016. Goode, a graduate of Brainerd High School, was nominated to the military academy earlier this year by Klobuchar, a release said.
"I want to congratulate Alycia on her acceptance to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point," Klobuchar said. "Alycia has excelled in Brainerd and is a National Honor Society member and a recipient of the President's Education Award. I'm confident she has the skills to serve our nation at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point."
On Saturday, Klobuchar hosted a reception for the students accepted into military academies this year and their families.
Last fall, Klobuchar accepted applications for Military Academy Nominations, which include the United States Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, West Point, and the Naval Academy. After interviewing applicants, Klobuchar nominated the selected students to their desired academy.
