Assistant Majority Leader Rep. Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, issued a statement Monday in support of a letter sent by House Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, which called on Gov. Mark Dayton to urge President Obama to suspend relocation efforts for Syrian refugees until the U.S. Department of Homeland Security had completed a full review of security and screening procedures for refugees entering the country.

"Minnesota families are concerned about recent terrorist attacks, and deserve assurance from the federal government that our screening procedures are safe and will keep out those who wish to harm our nation," Kresha said in the statement. "We can continue Minnesota's tradition of helping refugees and those fleeing senseless violence, but must do it in a way that keeps safety of our citizens as the No. 1 priority."
