BAXTER — A 21-year-old suspect sought by area law enforcement agencies for an alleged assault in Cass County was still at large Wednesday, April 28.
Authorities had information Tuesday leading them to believe the suspect was at a residence in Baxter. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant and called law enforcement officials from several agencies to assist.

Authorities set up a perimeter around the townhome on the 15000 block of Grand Oaks Drive in Baxter. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team along with the Baxter and Nisswa police departments, Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team and Brainerd Fire Department assisted Cass County at the scene.

Emergency vehicles were lined up along Grand Oaks Drive as the tactical team, with its armored vehicle, sat outside the townhome. Some of the residents in the surrounding townhomes stood outside to see what was going on.

Authorities were on scene about 2:30 p.m. and cleared the scene about 7:45 p.m., when authorities learned the suspect was not at the residence.
The suspect is wanted for an assault with a dangerous weapon in Cass County. The Cass and Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported there is no reason to believe the public is in danger.
The case continues to be under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
