League of Women Voters to host talk on loon center

The League of Women Voters of the Brainerd Lakes Area will feature Carla White of the National Loon Center April 11 at The Skillet Restaurant in Brainerd.

The League of Women Voters of the Brainerd Lakes Area will feature Carla White of the National Loon Center April 11 at The Skillet Restaurant in Brainerd.

Lunch and social will be at 11:30 a.m., with the program beginning at noon.

According the National Loon Center of Crosslake's website, its nonprofit organization is dedicated to the survival and protection of the common loon. The foundation's mission is to restore and protect loon habitats, enhance environmental recreation and construct a research and education center for migratory wildlife.

The League of Women Voters of the Brainerd Lakes Area is a nonpartisan political organization with a 90-year history of educating Minnesota voters. It encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
