A new bench at the Brainerd Public Library honors the memory of Ruth Gogolin, a longtime library volunteer and active community member who died in June 2018.

Gogolin served on the Brainerd Public Library Board for many years and was co-chair of the semiannual book sale event. She was also known for her work at The Center, where she frosted the senior center's well-known doughnuts.

The bench, located near the entrance, features statues of two small children reading a book together.
