The Brainerd Public Library offers free classes to area residents new to computers, those who haven't used them for a while, are a little unsure and uncomfortable or need a refresher.
All of the classes are taught using computers equipped with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2013, unless otherwise noted. Class size is limited to 10 students and those interested can register by calling 218-829-5574 or sign up via the Brainerd library's new online events calendar at tinyurl.com/brainerd-library-calendar.
An Intermediate iPads class will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. July 18. A class titled "Saving Digital Stuff Part 2: Files, Scanning and Organization" will be offered 2:30-4:30 p.m. July 19. The "Book a Librarian" service will be offered in August instead of computer classes. Get one- to-one technology help from a librarian with your devices, computers and accounts. Appointments are required for the 30-minute time slots. Get help to set up an email account, type a document, download library e-books and audiobooks and more. Also get questions answered about social media accounts.
The time slots are scheduled for Aug. 1, 14 and 16. Call the library or go online to make an appointment.
Classes are taught by Laurel Hall, public services library assistant at the Brainerd Public Library. Hall has been helping library patrons with computer and technology questions since 2009, and has taught classes for over three years. The technology used in these classes was made possible by grants from the Otto Bremer Trust.
