RANDALL - A 38-year-old Little Falls man was hospitalized Tuesday following an assault and shooting in a Randall mobile home park, reported the Morrison County Sheriff's Office.
Ryan Deters was allegedly hit with a wooden baseball bat by Kyle St. Martin-Smith, 25, Randall, and struck in the left forearm by two pistol rounds fired by St. Martin-Smith. Deters was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Gabriel's Hospital for treatment of injuries.
The sheriff's office received a 911 call at 10:02 a.m. from a resident who resides on Superior Avenue in Randall indicating there was a male in their yard who stated he was assaulted by someone at the Whispering Willow Estates Mobile Home Park in Randall. Randall Police Chief Chuck Strack and Morrison County deputies responded and made contact with Deters.
During the initial investigation, Deters advised law enforcement officers that he was assaulted at the mobile home park in Randall by Martin-Smith. According to Deters, he was in the process of selling his truck to St. Martin-Smith and St. Martin-Smith invited him over to his residence. Deters told authorities once he arrived at St. Martin-Smith's, he was invited into the residence and St. Martin-Smith immediately began striking him with a wooden bat. Deters said St. Martin-Smith pulled out a pistol and fired off two rounds, striking him in his left forearm.
Deters was transported to St. Gabriel's Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance for injuries.

Authorities were able to confirm St. Martin-Smith was still at the Whispering Willow Estates Mobile Home Park where the incident occurred and they were able to surround the trailer and apprehend St. Martin-Smith without incident.
Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen wants Morrison County residents to know this was an isolated incident where the two individuals knew each other and the suspect is in custody. There is no danger to the public, Larsen said.
The sheriff's office and Strack were assisted at the scene by the Little Falls Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
This case is still under investigation and all reports have been submitted to the Morrison County Attorney's Office for formal charges.
