PIERZ — A 31-year-old Little Falls man was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 7, after leading law enforcement on a short pursuit west of Pierz.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reported a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle at 4:24 p.m. on Highway 27, west of Pierz. The driver, who had active warrants for his arrest, did not stop for the deputy and a short chase ensued. The driver later pulled over near Centennial Drive and Highway 27 and took off running south past the Dollar General Store in Genola.

Officers responding to the scene set up a perimeter near the Dollar General Store with the use of the Morrison County drone and the Morrison County K-9 Unit. The suspect was later located, arrested and is being held in the Morrison County Jail, awaiting formal charges for fleeing in a motor vehicle and fleeing on foot.

The Pierz Police Department and members of the public assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene. In a news release, Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen thanked the people who assisted by either calling into their office with tips or showing up at the scene and providing information.
