WALKER — A 10-year-old Turtle Lake Township boy died Thursday, Oct. 20, after he fell out of a tree at a residence on Midway Circle near Walker in Cass County.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident, reported at 3:45 p.m. in Turtle Lake Township, east of Walker. According to the report, officers responded to a call about a medical situation and arrived to find a boy who had fallen from a tree, causing injuries.
Medical aid was immediately initiated by deputies and responders and the victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone to intercept a medical helicopter, where further life-saving efforts were performed. However, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Assisting at the scene were Leech Lake Tribal Police, North Memorial Health Ambulance and Sanford AirMed.
