Donna Sutton, the shelter’s executive director, said the event was a success with three dogs being adopted, though the rain hampered the turnout.
“It went well and we look forward to teaming up with The Woods again in the future,” Sutton said.
Stopping by the adoption event to meet the dogs were Dee and Gil Vansteenwyk. Dee Vansteenwyk said they were too old for a new puppy, but nonetheless they wanted to show their support for the event and the animals.
“We just want to let all the dogs know they are loved,” Dee Vansteenwyk said. “And just as Will Rogers said, ‘If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.’”
