Malmo crash injures Otsego woman

MALMO — A 76-year-old Otsego woman was injured Wednesday, July 20, in a broadside collision at highways 47 and 18 near the northeast corner of Mille Lacs Lake in Aitkin County.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash, reported at 1:45 p.m., in Malmo Township. According to the report, a 2008 Honda Accord was eastbound on Highway 18 when it went through the intersection at Highway 47 and collided with a northbound 2008 Toyota Camry.

The passenger in the Camry, Karen Renee Carlson, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Riverwood Healthcare Center Hospital. Camry driver James Edwin Magedanz, 76, of Aitkin, and Accord driver Kimberly Louise Sam, 31, of Isle, suffered no injuries.

The road was dry at the time.

Assisting at the scene were the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Natural Resources and North Memorial Health Ambulance.
