Pine River man suffers injury in crash with trees
The driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, crash in Cass County.
BACKUS — An 84-year-old Pine River man suffered non-life-threatening injuries Saturday, Sept. 17, after driving into trees in Ponto Lake Township, east of Backus in Cass County.
Richard Charles Theis was eastbound on Highway 87 near 20th Avenue Northwest in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado at 3:14 p.m. when he went off the road and into the trees in the eastbound ditch, where the vehicle came to rest.
Theis was taken by North Memorial Health Ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd for non-life-threatening injuries. According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, the vehicle’s air bag deployed.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the crash site.
