PALISADE-Long Lake Conservation Center is offering "A Week of Winter Wonders Master Naturalist Class" Jan. 28 through Feb. 1, 2019, featuring the North Woods Great Lake biome.
Participants will explore nature in winter by birding, tracking wildlife, learning how the first Minnesotans survived the winter, practicing their own winter resourcefulness, trekking through the forest, identifying trees by their twigs and bark, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and discovering new things about nature.
The course is followed by a 40-hour week of winter learning and exploration. The 40 hours includes multiple field trips, guest speakers and class at Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisade. Class time is divided between an indoor class and out on the center's 760 acres. Residents will be able to attend daily from 8 a.m. to about 5:30 p.m. each day of the week. Participants also have the option of meals and staying overnight.
