Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, urged farmers impacted by recent flooding to take advantage of zero percent loans available for clean-up efforts not covered by insurance.
A disaster declaration was issued for the Red Lake Nation and 36 counties in Minnesota, including Aitkin in Lueck's District 10B. The Disaster Recovery Loan Program through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture will be available to assist farmers with flood-related clean-up, repair and replacement costs not covered by insurance. The program is administered through the Minnesota Rural Finance Authority, which is funded by the Legislature.
"Friends and family are there to help out one another on the ground, but finances play a part in disaster recovery and this program can ease some of that burden," Lueck stated in a news release. "There are enough things to think about when disaster strikes, so I hope people will look into this program as a way to help the situation. I also am here to assist in my legislative role by answering questions and pointing people in the right direction."
