Lueck urges residents to take part in telephone town halls on Enbridge Line 3

Events are scheduled April 2, April 7 and April 9

In a news release Wednesday, April 1, state Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, stated he encourages area residents to participate in three statewide telephone town hall meetings regarding the Enbridge Line 3 replacement project.

Lueck indicated he will express his support for the project both in writing and via the telephone town hall process.

“We must continue to press to get this project moving in the interest of protecting our environment and ensuring a long-term stable energy supply,” Lueck stated in the release. “This is a 60-year-old pipeline that needs to be replaced. We continue to make progress shifting to alternative energy sources, however our rural economy will continue to depend on a significant amount of fossil fuel-based energy sources. Failing to replace this aging pipeline does is not protect our environment, rather it unnecessarily puts it at risk.”

During the meetings, the public can share two-minute comments and/or listen to other public comments regarding the project’s draft permits and 401 certification. The comments will be included in the official public record.

The telephone town halls meetings are scheduled on the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, April 2 (2-3:30 p.m.)

  • Tuesday, April 7 (6:30-8 p.m.)

  • Thursday, April 9 (10-11:30 a.m.)

To participate, call 855-731-4613 any time during the scheduled town hall times. The call is toll-free.
In addition, the Line 3 public comment period was extended one week, to Friday, April 10. Beyond the telephone town hall meetings, the public can also submit comments on the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s website, https://www.pca.state.mn.us/ .
