DILWORTH – A man in his late 40s apparently froze to death just east of Dilworth near the train tracks, Clay County authorities say.
Lt. Stephen Landsem of the Clay County Sheriff‘s Office said a railroad employee reporting finding the man at about 5 p.m. Wednesday near the town in far western Minnesota near Moorhead.
The death of the man, who doesn’t have a permanent address, appears to have been caused by exposure to the cold, Landsem said. It doesn’t appear he was hit by the train, and authorities don’t suspect foul play, he said.
Officials sent the man’s body to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Landsem said the man’s name will not be released until his family is notified. Officials are still working to track down his relatives.
