A man found lying alongside a road in Garrison Sunday died of natural causes and has been identified by the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.
The man, James Michael Deotis, 56, Garrison, died of natural causes, an autopsy from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office revealed.
The investigation into Deotis' death didn't reveal any indication of foul play or the possibility of a person versus vehicle crash, Chief Deputy Dennis Lasher said. Most likely the man passed out while out walking, he said.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, emergency personnel responded to a call reporting a man possibly in need of medical care. The man was lying on the shoulder of County Road 26 near Rolling Hills Resort Road west of Lake Mille Lacs. Rescue efforts were attempted, although it was determined the man was deceased.
The man's body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. The Garrison Fire Department, Onamia Ambulance First Responders and Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
