Man gets 25 years for fatal stabbing on Minneapolis train platform

MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday for fatally stabbing a St. Paul man last winter on a light-rail platform in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday for fatally stabbing a St. Paul man last winter on a light-rail platform in Minneapolis.

On Oct. 13, Bowker, 26, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the Dec. 6 stabbing death of 58-year-old Gerald Davis at the Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue Blue Line station.

Video of the incident showed that Davis had walked by members of Bowker’s family near the station and words were exchanged. Davis walked away and sat down to wait for the train, but Bowker soon approached and attacked him with a knife.

Bowker chased Davis down, stabbed him repeatedly in the neck and then kicked him in the head after he collapsed, according to the criminal complaint.

Bowker has said that he is being treated for mental illness and was under the influence of drugs and alcohol the day of the attack.
