An 82-year-old Little Falls man was injured Wednesday evening when the pickup truck he was driving was struck by a semitractor-trailer.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office reported at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, the crash occurred on Ginger Road north of 175th Street in Green Prairie Township near Little Falls.

Walton Kjeldergaard, 66, Cushing, was driving the semitractor-trailer northbound on Ginger Road. Kjeldergaard told the sheriff's office he came upon a GMC pickup truck that was parked on the side of the road, so he moved to the left lane to avoid the truck. The truck suddenly turned to cross the road and was struck by the semitractor-trailer.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Emil Groth, 82, Little Falls. Groth was trapped inside the vehicle and the Little Falls Fire Department was called to assist with extrication. Groth was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance with unknown injuries. A representative with St. Cloud Hospital reported Friday Groth was in fair condition.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office was also assisted at the scene by the Little Falls Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
