EMILY-A man lost his hand in an incident involving gunpowder about 5 p.m. Sunday, May 12, in Emily.
A Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office official said the man, who was not identified, was in his early 40s and was transported to the hospital via air care helicopter. The official said the man was alive but in critical condition.
It is unclear whether the man was using fireworks or another form of gunpowder, and the investigation into the incident, which happened on County Road 136, is ongoing.
