Man suffers serious injury in dirt bike crash

It was learned the operator of the Kawasaki dirt bike was riding north on the Sno-Way 1 trail when he lost control on a rocky and washed-out section of trail, causing him to crash.

PINE RIVER — A 54-year-old Loretto man was seriously injured Saturday, Sept. 11, when the dirt bike he was on crashed near the Spider Lake Recreational Area in rural Pine River.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was called at 12:39 p.m. to a dirt bike crash on the Sno-Way 1

Recreation Trail in Bungo Township. Deputies and responders arrived on scene and transported personnel and equipment to the area.

It was learned the operator of the Kawasaki dirt bike was riding north on the Sno-Way 1 trail when he lost control on a rocky and washed-out section of trail, causing him to crash. The Loretto man, whose name was not released by authorities, was transported to a nearby landing zone and transported via helicopter to a Twin Cities area hospital for a serious, but non-life-threatening injury.

Assisting at the scene were Backus Fire and Rescue, North Memorial Health Ambulance and North Memorial Health Air Care.
