ADA - A head-on crash near here killed an elderly couple from Mentor on Monday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Carlton and Hazel Roed, both 88, were headed north on state Highway 9 in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala when the car crossed the centerline and struck a southbound truck, the patrol said.
The crash happened about 3 p.m., and Carlton Roed, the driver, was pronounced dead soon afterward. Hazel Roed was taken to Essentia Hospital in Fargo where she died Monday night, the patrol said.
The truck driver, Larry Larson, 72 , of Twin Valley, Minn., was not hurt. All three motorists were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
