A Merrifield man died Thursday, Dec. 6, in a head-on collision near the intersection of Wise Road and Sugarberry Creek Road in Brainerd, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported.
Daniel Robert Rehberger, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, Kevin Roger Dumpprope, 48, Motley, was taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center by North Ambulance.
The crash was reported at 4:23 p.m.
In a news release, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said Dumpprope was driving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup west on Wise Road and Rehberger was driving east in a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, when the Avalanche rounded a curve and continued to drift over the centerline into the westbound lane. The two vehicles collided head-on.
The Brainerd and Baxter police departments, Minnesota State Patrol and Crow Wing County Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle Drone Team assisted the sheriff's office at the scene.
