Mid-Minnesota Women's Center meets the needs of women and children who have fled their homes due to domestic violence and abuse.
In addition, the center provides assistance to those seeking advocacy, education and resources in the community. They also offer the services of the Alex and Brandon Child Safety Center as a family friendly and nurturing place where families in crisis can safely visit with each other. The holidays are approaching quickly and although the center is able to offer the gift of safety and meet basic needs of the families, they rely on the generosity of the lakes area to assist in providing the more tangible signs of sharing during the holiday season.
The anxiety of leaving behind everything they own in exchange for safety in a violence-free environment is difficult for anyone to comprehend; the reality of not being able to provide gifts for their children during the Christmas season only adds to the immense emotional and financial strain for these families.
In the past, the center reported it has been fortunate for the giving spirit of the lakes area which has made the holiday season brighter for countless families. The center is asking members of the community, to help continue this holiday spirit by making a cash contribution, purchase gifts or to adopt a family and directly make the holiday a special time for someone in need.
