The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation announced Thursday, July 26, Rene Millner has joined the the board of directors, effective July 1.

Millner is an attorney with Breen and Person, Ltd., and specializes in the areas of estate planning, probate, guardian and conservatorship and business law. Millner moved to the Brainerd lakes area in 2000. The BLACF board of directors also approved current board chair Tom Anderson to serve a second three-year term.

The board of directors governs the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation, conducts development activities, approves grant decisions and works to engage people, connect resources and build community. All members are volunteers and serve three-year terms.

The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation, in affiliation with CommunityGiving, is a public charity that attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community. Since 1998, BLACF has grown to over $10.4 million in assets and has awarded over $4.7 million in grants to nonprofits. CommunityGiving is a collaboration of community foundations united under a single framework to create efficiencies that maximize the impact of our donors. The core foundations working with CommunityGiving include the Alexandria Area Community Foundation, the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation, the Central Minnesota Community Foundation and the Willmar Area Community Foundation.
