BALDWIN, WI - A case of a woman found shot to death Tuesday in a car on a rural road in northwest Wisconsin is being investigated as a homicide and a suspect in is in custody, the St. Croix County Sheriff's department said.
Sheriff's deputies found a woman shot to death in a car about five miles northeast of Baldwin shortly after noon Tuesday, about 30 minutes after a man with her called authorities, frantically demanding a helicopter be sent to help her.
A 22-year-old man was taken into custody at gunpoint by the first responding officer, according to radio transmissions from the scene.
Just before noon, the officer told a dispatcher, “I got a knife, got a revolver and I got one at gunpoint.”
A deputy indicated both the man and woman were from southern Minnesota.

On Tuesday evening, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents and Lake City, Minn., police reportedly cordoned off a two-block residential area in Lake City, apparently to search a home.
The names of the victim and suspect had not been released Wednesday.
