The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency commissioner made a preliminary determination to reissue a permit for the city of East Gull Lake.
A draft permit is available for review on the MPCA Public Notices webpage at https://bit.ly/2wwfA0F . The MPCA will mail or email a copy of the draft permit upon request. Comments, petitions and other requests must be received at the MPCA, 7678 College Road, Suite 105, Baxter, MN 56425, in writing on or before the public comment period, which runs through 4:30 p.m. May 18.
The facility consists of two separate sites: The North Plant-Squaw Point facility and the South Plant-Pine Beach facility.
The North Plant-Squaw Point facility consists of a main lift station, force main, two aerated ponds, sand filter and ultraviolet disinfection. The North Plant-Squaw Point facility has a continuous discharge to the Gull River via an 8-inch, 4,800-foot gravity pipe.
The South Plant-Pine Beach facility includes a main lift station, influent splitter structure, two activated sludge basins, two final clarifiers equipped with chemical addition for phosphorus removal and ultraviolet disinfection. The South Plant-Pine Beach facility has a continuous discharge to the Gull River via a 10-inch, 7,400-foot gravity pipe.
