AVON, Minn. — An Avon man has been identified as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash Monday near his hometown.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, first responders in Stearns County were dispatched to the intersection of County Road 52 and 160th Avenue, roughly 5 miles north of Avon, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, 67-year-old Kevin Boundy, of Avon, was driving southbound on 160th Avenue when he entered the intersection and was struck in the driver-side door by a westbound truck. The collision caused both vehicles to crash into the southwest ditch.
Boundy was pronounced dead shortly after the crash. The other driver, a 19-year-old male from Avon, was not injured in the crash and refused medical attention.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said Boundy’s entrance to the intersection was controlled by a stop sign, but did not indicate whether Boundy appeared to have stopped before entering. Minnesota State Patrol, Holdingford Fire and Rescue and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene.
