Central Minnesota man dies after snowmobiles, ATV go into lake

Rescue crews were called to Otter Tail Lake on the report of 2 snowmobiles, 1 ATV in the water

OTTERTAIL, Minn. — A 64-year-old Ottertail, Minn., man is dead after two snowmobiles and an ATV went through the ice on Otter Tail Lake, Saturday, Jan. 7.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, rescue crews were called to the northeast side of Otter Tail Lake about 7: 30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, on the report of two snowmobiles and one ATV in the water. When crews arrived, everyone was accounted for except for one man.

The man had to be rescued from the water and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement has not yet identified the man or others at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

Otter Tail Lake is east of Fergus Falls, Minn., about 80 miles southeast of Fargo.
