Moorhead man arrested in connection with Monticello shooting

Deputies spoke to witnesses at the scene who identified the suspect as Dillon Tilbury, 18, of Moorhead.

MONTICELLO, Minn. — A Moorhead man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened Monday night, Jan. 16, in Monticello, Minnesota.

According to a report released by the Wright County Sheriff's Office:

Around 8:31 p.m. Monday, Wright County deputies were dispatched to the Montisippi Park compost site in Monticello for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male identified as Jade Nickels, 44, of Monticello, on the roadway near the entrance to the compost facility.

Deputies began first aid and discovered Nickels had been shot multiple times and appeared to have also been assaulted.

Nickels was transported to the hospital and as of Tuesday afternoon was believed to be in serious but stable condition.

Deputies spoke to witnesses at the scene who identified the suspect as Dillon Tilbury, 18, of Moorhead.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot. Tilbury was eventually found at a residence in Monticello and taken into custody.

He was arrested and booked into the Wright County Jail for probable cause first-degree assault with a firearm, and he may face other charges stemming from the incident, according to the Sheriff's Office.
