DEERWOOD — A report of a missing 11-year-old Deerwood boy who took off on his bicycle Monday, Dec. 21, and had not returned home resulted in about 30 emergency personnel searching.

Deerwood Police Chief Mark Taylor said the father of the boy called police at 3:12 p.m. stating his son left on a bicycle at 1:30 p.m. on Forest Road — something he typically does — but he had not returned.

Personnel from the Deerwood police and fire departments, the Crosby Police Department, Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s drone team and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted in the search for the missing boy.

Taylor said the boy showed up to his home at 4:38 p.m. and told his father he was hanging out with some people. The boy forgot to tell his father where he was going. Taylor said he was glad the boy was safe.
