The Minnesota United States Pageant was recently named one of the top 10 pageants in the nation by The Pageant Planet, a national and international online pageant coaching business. Each year, through nominations, the site awards the "best of the best," in pageantry, from the previous year. The Minnesota United States Pageant was ranked the No. 7 pageant in the nation for 2016.
In a news release, The Pageant Planet stated, "The Miss Minnesota United States pageant is based on a solid commitment to uphold the standards of fairness and integrity. It prides itself in focusing on each person who chooses to compete. Recognized as 'the premier event of its kind' and the largest pageant system available, it promotes a sisterhood not found in any other pageant.
"New for the Minnesota United States Pageant, the location of the state pageant will be changing from St. Paul to Brainerd. State pageant directors Vicki Randall and Bill Musel noticed a growth in the system and wanted a change of scenery."
Randall and Musel, residents of Baxter, stated they were surprised and humbled by the award. They have been involved in pageant directing for more than 14 years, with the last four years with the United States system.
"We truly love the family feel of the sisterhood that the program promotes," stated Randall. "There is literally a division for every woman and every age to compete in."

The 2017 Minnesota United States Pageant will take place Feb. 16-19 at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd. There will be several events over the weekend and are all open to the public. Go to www.eventbrite.com to purchase tickets.
