Motorists traveling Highway 87 between Highway 371 in Backus and Highway 84 east of Backus will encounter flaggers, heavy equipment and delays when the road is reduced to a single lane Monday, Aug. 17 through Aug. 21.
The closures will occur from sunrise to sunset while crews resurface the roadway.
Flaggers and a pilot car will allow one-way, alternating traffic through the daily work zones. Motorists should slow down and prepare to stop as they approach the work zone, obey the flaggers and use caution as they follow the pilot car through the daily work zones.
Also, motorists entering a work zone from driveways or roads that intersect Highway 87 must wait for the pilot car to pass, then follow it through the work zone.
Crews will return later in August, after the new pavement cures, to apply permanent striping.
