Need to be motivated on a Monday for better health? To keep it simple, just pick from three things to get the week off on the right path?

1. Fresh start - So the weekend and the stress of the past week in the lakes area derailed plans for healthier eating. No problem. Comfort food has its place. When falling off plans to cut out junk food or sweets takes a momentary hit, it doesn't mean those plans for healthier eating can't get back on track with a new week. Today is a fresh start to a new week.

2. Stress relief - There are ways to avoid stress and one is to ditch part of the list of things to do. When things seem overwhelming make a to-do list and mark things by priority. What needs to be done by A, B and C. On hectic days, feel empowered to scratch the Cs right off the list. When stress can't be avoided, communicate feelings openly, lump similar tasks together for greater efficiency, forgive as it takes a lot of energy to be angry and brings on more negative energy, practice positive self-talk as negative thoughts can lead to more stress. Making an effort to be positive is a way to stop negative thoughts from building and gaining momentum. When things can't be changed, adapt and try to look at the situation from a new viewpoint. Adopt a mantra such as "I can handle this" and mentally repeat it during tough situations. It may seem simple but list the things enjoyable in life: family, friends, pets, favorite things to do and call on the list when stressed. And look at the big picture: "Will this matter in a year or in five years?" This can make a momentary stressful situation seem less overwhelming.

3. Have 15 minutes? - Think there is no time to exercise? How about 15 minutes? Get up a little earlier or devote 15 minutes - just 15 minutes during the day - to exercise. Once a pattern starts, it may be easier to add 15 minutes - it doesn't have to all be at the same time - in order to grow to 30 minutes a day. Check it out today and it may be surprising how much 15 minutes can make a difference.
