MOORHEAD – The Moorhead Police Department says it has identified a vehicle that it thought may be linked to the death of North Dakota State University student Thomas Bearson.
"Investigators are comfortable that this vehicle is not associated with the ongoing homicide investigation," police said in a news release Thursday.
The 2005 Nissan Maxima was seen on surveillance video in a property adjacent to the Moorhead RV lot where Bearson's body was found. Police asked the public for help identifying the car on Monday and, as a result, was tipped off to the identity of the car's owner.
Police said the owner asked not to be identified.
Bearson, 18, of Sartell, Minn., was a freshman at NDSU when he disappeared Sept. 20. He was last reported being seen at a home in Fargo near his dorm.
