LITTLE FALLS — Morrison County Historical Society is raising funds for its 2020 year-end appeal and Give to the Max Day to be used for a new heating, ventilation, air conditioning system at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls.
The HVAC system serves as the respiratory system for the building, providing a comfortable, stable environment for visitors and to the tens of thousands of collection items being cared for by the Morrison County Historical Society, historical society officials said in a news release. These items tell the stories of the many people who have made this land their home over the centuries.
The Weyerhaeuser Museum opened in 1975, which is when most of its current HVAC system was put into use. The system is over 40 years old and has become inefficient by today's energy standards and costly to maintain. It needs to be replaced, which will mean removing the giant air handler and boilers and replacing them with high-efficiency gas furnaces. New air conditioners and humidifiers will be part of the project, too. The cost for replacing the HVAC is estimated to be about $140,000.
Give to the Max Day is an annual focused day of giving hosted by GiveMN.org in order to raise money for nonprofits all over Minnesota. This year’s Give to the Max Day is Nov. 19, though early giving began Nov. 1.
