A 47-year-old Staples man -- who was injured in a motorcycle crash June 28 on Highway 10 in Todd County -- has died.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Officer, Marco Anthony Puentes died the next day, June 29 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, as a result of multiple blunt force injuries suffered when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Puentes was operating a 1999 Harley Davidson headed west on Highway 10. A 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Judith Ann Bjerga, 73, of Motley, crossed Highway 10 going northbound and the motorcycle struck the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet spun 180 degrees, coming to a rest facing southbound. The motorcycle came to a rest in the right lane, west of the intersection of Highway 10 and 12th Street Northeast in Staples.

Puentes was transported to HCMC and Bjerga had non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Staples hospital.
