Motorist crashes after losing control of truck on slick road

A truck fishtailed into the oncoming lane striking a Ford Fiesta. The state patrol reported the highway was icy and slushy.


AITKIN — Two people were injured Thursday, Jan. 14, when the vehicles they were driving crashed on Highway 210, which authorities reported was covered with slush and snow, near Aitkin.

The Minnesota State Patrol was called at 8:45 a.m. to the crash in Aitkin Township. It was reported David J. Owen, 38, Aitkin, was driving a Ford F-150 west on Highway 210, east of Pioneer Avenue when he lost control of his truck on the slushy snow covered road. The truck fishtailed into the oncoming lane striking a Ford Fiesta, driven by Lana C. Delmore, 55, Deerwood, who was traveling east, the state patrol reported.

Both drivers were transported for non-life-threatening injuries to Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
