Motorist injured when truck crosses highway, hits tree

NISSWA - A driver was injured Monday afternoon when he lost control of the 2003 Dodge Dakota he was driving on Highway 371 and later hit a tree near Lazy Brook Drive in Nisswa.

NISSWA - A driver was injured Monday afternoon when he lost control of the 2003 Dodge Dakota he was driving on Highway 371 and later hit a tree near Lazy Brook Drive in Nisswa.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the truck was traveling south when it left Highway 371 on the southbound side near Lazy Brook Drive. The truck then re-entered the highway, crossed four lanes of traffic and came to a stop against a tree on the northbound side of the highway.

The crash was reported at 4:05 p.m.

The driver, Charles Klein, 46, Brainerd, suffered non life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's office and the Nisswa police and fire departments assisted the state patrol at the scene.
