The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol paid a visit this week to students in the equine science class at Brainerd High School.
Mounted Patrol members Mariann Guentzel and Jeff Melberg presented their role as members of the Mounted Patrol, a volunteer unit affiliated with the county sheriff's office. Members use their horses for search and rescue efforts, crowd control and security purposes. Students learned horses have to go through extensive training to become certified for mounted patrol purposes and are equipped with special gear for their identification and safety.
