MCGREGOR-The cause of the deaths of two adults whose bodies were found Nov. 27 at a residence southeast of McGregor in Spalding Township has been ruled a murder-suicide.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner identified the individuals as Laura Shingobe-Garbow, 62, and Matthew Garbow, 40, both of McGregor. The manner and cause of death for Laura Shingobe-Garbow was determined to be homicide by blunt force trauma injuries to the head. The manner and cause of death for Matthew Garbow was determined to be suicide by multiple sharp force injuries.
According to Laura Shingobe-Garbow's obituary published in the Mille Lacs Messenger, Matthew Garbow was her son.
Deputies with the Aitkin County Sheriff's Office found the two bodies after receiving a request for a welfare check at the residence. The residence was secure and the deputies had to force entry into the residence.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the sheriff's office in the investigation.
