MOORHEAD – A North Dakota State University student whose body was found in Moorhead on Tuesday morning was the victim of a homicide, police say.

Initial results from an autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Thomas Gregory Bearson died as a result of “homicidal violence,” according to a news release sent late Thursday afternoon by Moorhead police Lt. Tory Jacobson.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the left shoe of Bearson, which was missing from his body when it was discovered on the ground on the lot of Larry’s RV Sales, near 29th Street and 24th Avenue South by Sam’s Club in south Moorhead. The shoe is a white Nike Air Jordan which is a size 9 ½.

Authorities also are looking for Bearson’s cellphone, a silver iPhone 5.

Police released photographs of items similar to the shoe and the phone to assist in locating them.
