Brainerd Public Schools announced new COVID-19 cases in the Forestview Middle School community Thursday, Sept. 24.
The district worked with the Minnesota Department of Health to identify and contact those who had close contact with the infected individuals, the letter to parents stated. The risk of exposure for others in the building is no greater than the risk of contracting the virus in the general community, according to the health department.
Superintendent Laine Larson said by phone Thursday afternoon she did not know how many cases there were but said she would likely have a better idea Friday. She also said she did not know if these cases are related to the cluster of cases reported earlier this week at Brainerd High School.
Students in ninth through 12th grades at Brainerd High School, Lincoln Education Center and Brainerd Learning Center began distance learning Thursday and are expected to return to their hybrid class schedule Oct. 8. No change in class structure at Forestview was announced.
