The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation recently announced James “Jim” Russell joined the board of directors, effective July 1, a news release stated.
The board governs the foundation, conducts development activities, approves grant decisions and works to engage people, connect resources and build community.
All members are volunteers and serve up to three terms of three years.

Russell works with Central Lakes College as the athletics director and is the head men’s basketball coach.
Karl Samp, foundation executive director stated in a news release, “We are excited to have Jim on the board as he brings a wealth of life experience, and offers a unique perspective to aid our board in our community work and continued growth.”
